Well, the new alarm system is installed and working. Things are quiet again.

And as usual, I'm sick again. It seems that everytime I go somewhere and get around other people, I catch some bug or something. This time, I think I even know who I got it from.

Doug and I went to Walmart and there was this lady behind me in line who struck up a conversation. Trying to be nice, I politely listened, but she kept getting closer and closer, like she needed to whisper something to me. In fact, she got so close that she was talking to my nose, I think. lol I kept trying to back off from her, but I didn't have much room to move around in without knocking someone else over. And all that time, I was thinking about how I hoped she didn't have anything contagious. lol And now here I am with another nasty virus.

Oh well, at least now I can rest. My alarm system is working really, really well. Don't have to worry about any little girls sneaking in or out of the house while I'm hacking and coughing and feeling miserable.

Update on my little car thief:

The night after she pulled that stunt...(and if you don't know what I'm talking about, see the post below this.) ...there was a car that kept cruising up and down our road over and over, even stopped right in front of our house several times. I had a feeling that it was probably one of Amber's friends coming by to pick her up for another joy ride....so it didn't happen. I ended up staying awake all night, worrying about it, so then I thought this is NOT going to keep happening. Oh, and since there are only 2 houses on this road, the vehicle had only two places to go. We live way out in the boonies here, not much else around us.

First, to combat the problem, I had bought a little key box with a combination lock on it and a bell inside it, and hung it right over my head above the bed. So no, she couldn't take my keys without me knowing it even when I was sleeping. She doesn't have the combination.

Next, we are having a Brinks Alarm System installed that will announce loudly whenever anyone comes in or goes out any window or door. Besides that, we replaced our bolt lock with one that has to be opened and closed with a key. And the key is in that little box...right where I can get to it.

I decided that I'd rather have Huntsville Prison right here at my house then have her kill herself or me worry all night long and go without sleep. Ain't happenin'.

On top of all that, I've promised her the joys of boot camp if she does anything like that ever again....and I meant it! I also reminded her that I have a gun in my room and that if someone was sneaking in one of my windows, then they might just get shot, since anyone sneaking in would be considered a burglar or a rapist or a murderer....and not a friend. Friends call before they come and DO NOT sneak in windows.

I think she got the point.

Oh, and to answer some of the questions:

How did Doug take it? *snorts* you don't want to know.

Was it the same little friend she always gets into trouble with? Yep.....the same one that she left skateland with and walked a mile in the dark with. Now, THAT friend is off limits.

I know it's been awhile since I've posted. Just feeling like hell, to tell you the truth. A little too much excitement after having none for so long. I still can't believe what happened. I was sleeping peacefully one night after having unexpected company for a week. I was exhausted. Well, my sweet little daughter and one of her friends snuck in my room and took my car keys. They took my car out at 3 am and wrecked it. Neither girl even has a permit. So now she's on restriction for life. Might get off for good behavior at age 30, but that's only after years of hard labor around here. I just sit here, imagining what could've happened. Luckily, only the car and our fence post was hurt. They didn't even get the thing out of the driveway before they wrecked it. lol Think they had sense enough then to put the car back and forget it? Nah....they still took it into town for a little joy ride.

So now, I have to hide my car keys...just in case she decides to have another brain fart. It upset me so much that I think every muscle in my body is aching...acheing? ...hurting. :D I tense up just thinking about it.

Know what I'm going to do to relax? Sit back while she is cleaning and cooking and doing yard work and paying me for the damage to my car. It's so nice to have a maid for a change. :D See where boredom gets you?

I don't know when I'll get around to everybody. Probably not for a few days now. But in the meantime, here's a fun link for you. This is really weird. :D

Okay, maybe I spoke too soon. I ended up still winning 2nd place and Most Creative in that contest, even with the dolly judges. lol

Not much to tell you guys on this end. Everything's still peaceful here. No excitement whatsoever. It's way too quiet.

I've lost my computer to Amber most of the time, now that she's home for the summer. But I'm going to try and take it away from her for awhile tonight if I can. Maybe I'll get to visit for awhile. I am so tired of hearing, "Mom, I'm bored" that it's unreal. I'm going to have to put her to work or something. There's all kinds of interesting stuff to do around here.....dishes, laundry, cooking, cleaning. That should fix the problem. lol

See you soon....I hope.

Well, I almost got 2nd place in the contest (below), but the girl running the contest decided the voting wasn't fair and is now going to start it all over. She's going to have her own judges, I think. Maybe one people's choice award. She waited until everyone finished voting and then decided this. Oh well...
