Update on my little car thief:
The night after she pulled that stunt...(and if you don't know what I'm talking about, see the post below this.) ...there was a car that kept cruising up and down our road over and over, even stopped right in front of our house several times. I had a feeling that it was probably one of Amber's friends coming by to pick her up for another joy ride....so it didn't happen.
I ended up staying awake all night, worrying about it, so then I thought this is NOT going to keep happening. Oh, and since there are only 2 houses on this road, the vehicle had only two places to go. We live way out in the boonies here, not much else around us.
First, to combat the problem, I had bought a little key box with a combination lock on it and a bell inside it, and hung it right over my head above the bed. So no, she couldn't take my keys without me knowing it even when I was sleeping. She doesn't have the combination.
Next, we are having a Brinks Alarm System installed that will announce loudly whenever anyone comes in or goes out any window or door. Besides that, we replaced our bolt lock with one that has to be opened and closed with a key. And the key is in that little box...right where I can get to it.
I decided that I'd rather have Huntsville Prison right here at my house then have her kill herself or me worry all night long and go without sleep. Ain't happenin'.
On top of all that, I've promised her the joys of boot camp if she does anything like that ever again....and I meant it! I also reminded her that I have a gun in my room and that if someone was sneaking in one of my windows, then they might just get shot, since anyone sneaking in would be considered a burglar or a rapist or a murderer....and not a friend. Friends call before they come and DO NOT sneak in windows.
I think she got the point.
Oh, and to answer some of the questions:
How did Doug take it? *snorts* you don't want to know.
Was it the same little friend she always gets into trouble with? Yep.....the same one that she left skateland with and walked a mile in the dark with. Now, THAT friend is off limits.
